Day 30 When were the happiest days of your life?

This is the last entry to the 30-day blog challenge and I am happy that the question is about the happiest days of your life. I can say with certainty, that the happiest of my days are those spent with my family. My life is not easy, but I know that it is better than before and all my sacrifices are for the people that I love. When I see my kids or my mom and sister smiling, I would like to believe that I somehow contributed to their happiness. And then everything is worth it.

This blog challenge has somewhat made me realize that for me, family is the most important thing in my life. After all, what else is there that can make one as happy and as fulfilled as me?

Day 29 Picture of your makeup collection

Day 29 of the 30-day blog challenge is a fail for me. It asks for a picture of my make-up collection and the only thing that I can show is my lipstick and petroleum jelly. Yep, I am that kind of girl. I am starting to learn by the way, because I just bought a liquid eyeliner and I will also buy a blusher soon. Maybe the year 2012 will bring out a more kikay me!

Day 28 Tattoos. If you have one, post it and its story. If not, what do you want?

Today is Day 28 of the 30-day blog challenge and I cant believe its been almost a month since I started it! For today's post, it is about a tattoo and I have been dying to get one ever since but I haven't had the budget, nor the time to do it yet. But I will have one soon :) Its even in my 100 memories list! And I haven't fully decided which design it would be but it would be a wrist tattoo or something like these literary tattoo below.

Day 27 What do you feel guilty for doing?

Today is Day 27 of the 30-day blog challenge and the question is about what makes you feel guilty. The only thing that makes me feel guilty is when I travel and cant take the kids with us. As a family, we have been to Baguio, Bohol, Boracay and Cebu but my husband and I have been to Coron and Puerto Princesa and Boracay together and with friends. I want our next trip to be with the family but this is not happening next year because we will be saving up for my eldest child's college fund. If we were to travel next year, it would be just me and my husband. While I know I shouldn't be guilty because I take my kids with me when I can, I still do because I want to be able to make memories with them. Anyway, hope I will be able to save enough so everyone can travel again soon.

Day 26 What’s something you’re really excited for?

Day 26 of the 30-day blog challenge is about something that I am really excited for and since New Year is just around the corner, here are the things that I am looking forward to:
  1. I hope to get the job I just applied for.
  2. A much better relationship with my husband after all the difficulties of this year.
  3. A much happier state of mind for my kids
  4. Better health for the family
  5. More blog opportunities meaning more income
These are just some things that I am excited for and I know that I will have them by next year! I know that my luck is turning and I think 2012 is going to be a better year!

Day 25 Write 5 messages to 5 different people without using names.

Day 25 of the 30-day blog challenge is very timely because it is Christmas! And I am writing these letters to the wonderful people in my life.

1. I have been very blessed to have the three of you in my life and I would like to think that I am doing something right with raising you. I just wish that you grow up to be happy and well-adjusted individuals, with a strong sense of right and wrong. I love all of you with all my life and I will be always be here for you.

2. We have been together for 14 years and while it has been a little rough and stormy lately, I am willing to give us another chance. I want to make more happier memories with you, and get married in church on our 25th year. I love you.

3. You are the best mom a daughter could ever have. Thank you for giving us all that you have and more. I hope that I am a good daughter to you. Thank you for everything that I am.

4. You are the eldest sister that one can only dream of. I am a better person because of you. I want to be like you, but since I cant, I am honored to call you my sister. You are loving, generous and super bait. I love you!

5. I am very proud to have you as my little sister. Your achievements, I call my own. I love you and I am so very lucky to have a very responsible sister like you. May you achieve more in life than I have and just remember that we are always right behind you.

December 24, 2011

Day 24 Do you have saved text messages? If so, who are they from and why do you still have them?

Today is Day 24 of the 30-day blog challenge and as or saved text messages on my phone, they are are all from my husband. I usually delete messages once a week to keep my message box light but I have not deleted any messages from my husband since last month. They are mostly apologies and I am keeping them to remind of his promises.

Day 23 Two months ago, where were you and what were you doing?

Day 23 of the 30-day blog challenge is about what were you doing exactly two months ago and since it was a Sunday, I think we were just home and watching TV, after going to mass and eating lunch. Then a long, 2-hour siesta. My life is boring like that. And I love it!

December 22, 2011

Day 22 What’s an inside joke you have with someone?

For Day 22 of the 30-day blog challenge, the question is "What's an inside joke you have with someone?" And it would be with my friend Ehms. She was my college classmate and we have been friends ever since. One time she was feeling sad, she went to SM Centerpoint all by herself and it was because "gusto ko mapag-isa" and it has become an inside joke between us. To go to SM to be alone, despite the number of people there is actually a sign that we are indeed sad despite the many people around us.

December 21, 2011

Day 21 If you died tomorrow, what’s one thing you’d regret not doing?

For Day 21 of the 30-day blog challenge, the only thing that I think I would ever regret if I were to die tomorrow, is not saving enough money for the future of my children. I don't think that I am missing out on anything big in my life. All I want to do is to give my kids a better future and have fun living while doing it.

Day 20 What are the 10 most significant events in your life?

Late post for the Day 20 of the 30-day blog challenge and here are the 10 most significant events in my life:
1. When I graduated from college as a working student.
2. When I met my husband, got pregnant, got married and gave birth to my son Drexelle.
3. When I got a job the summer of my graduation
4. When I had my masteral, but didnt finish it because of a job
5. When I started working at URC and then at my present company
6. When we bought (okay, still paying mortgage) the house in Montalban
7. When I gave birth to Danniel
8. When I gave birth to Ishi
9. When I started travelling the Philippines
10. When I finally realized my self worth.

This is actually a summary of what has been happening about my life after college and the highlights are my role as a mom and wife, and as a career woman. While it is not as glamorous or as exciting as the life of some women I know, this is enough and fulfilling for me!

December 19, 2011

Day 19 What is your goal in life?

Today's post for the 30-day blog challenge is about your goal in life. And I have these goals:

1. Build that dream house.
2. Send my kids to college.
3. Visit Cambodia and Vietnam.
4. Save enough for retirement.
5. Be happy.

These are just some of things that I am working on right now and I just want to live while doing it!

Day 18 Whom do you admire the most?

Day 18 of the 30-day blog challenge was supposed to be posted yesterday but was not able to because we were out the whole day and the question is "Whom Do You Admire the Most?" One of the strongest and most generous person I know is my sister, Dianne and I admire her for it. There are people who, just by being with them, makes you feel good about yourself and my sister makes me feel that way. She makes me see things in a different perspective: where I am impulsive, she is grounded and while I am easy to take offense, she takes everything lightly. She is generous and is a constant source of happiness and I love her very much. I want to be like her but since I know I cant, she will always be one of the people I admire the most.

Day 17 What’s something you wish you could say to someone?

Today is Day 17 of the 30-Day Blog Challenge and for "What’s something you wish you could say to someone?" I would tell this to my husband:
We are obviously going through something right now and the timing is really bad, but I am hopeful that it will be over soon. And when I say over, I meant better. I can forgive after all.

Day 16: What Do People Notice About You?

For Day 16 of the 30 day blog challenge, the question is, "What Do People Notice About You?" And most of the time, people notice that I am a happy and confident person. Little did they know that I hid my insecurities behind this happy facade. Oh well, I guess we all have masks and mine just happen to be that of a clown.

December 15, 2011

Day 15 What do you dislike most about yourself?

For Day 15 of the 30-day blog challenge on what I dislike most about myself, I would say that I sometimes care too much about what people would think about me. I get hurt easily, sometimes even just with imagined slight to me. And that causes me to take offense and feel that everybody thinks I am a bad person. I may look like a jolly person on the outside, but it is just a mask, and the person hiding inside feels very insecure.

December 14, 2011

Day 14: What Do You like Most About Yourself?

Today is Day 14 of the 30-Day Blog challenge and for the question, what you like most about yourself, I would say it would be my strength. I am hurting, but I see clearly the important things in my life and instead if wallowing in misery, I am choosing to be happy about my life and the blessings that I am receiving.

December 13, 2011

Day 13: Have you ever had your heart broken? Have you ever broken a heart?

Day 13 of the 30-day challenge is if you've ever had a broken heart or if you've broken a heart. My answer is yes, I am now brokenhearted. But more than that, I am just sad. And I posted this on my FB wall, but i will post it here again because I think it sums it up:

Day 12: If you could wish for anything that would come true, what would you wish for?

For Day 12 of the 30-Day Blog Challenge, I wish for nothing more than for my kids never to experience a broken family. If I could wish for anything that would come true, that will be for my kids to feel secure about our love and our family. That is my most fervent wish.

Day 11 Who Can’t You Live Without?

Yesterday was Day 11 of the 30-Day Blog Challenge and the question of 'Who Cant You Live Without' is quiet easy: I cant live without my kids! I can live without money, without food but I have to have my kids with me. I think that goes for all mothers out there too who would rather starve than not be with their kids.

December 10, 2011

Day 10: A Dream for the Future

Today is Day 10 of the 30-Day Blog Challenge and it is about a dream for the future. And my dearest dream is to be able to build our home. We have been improving it little by little but we still have to have a second floor, just in case we get flooded again. My dream is to have a home we can finally call our own. And to finally live in it. I wish for it to happen soon!

Day 9: Hopes, dreams and plans for the next 365 days

Today is Day 9 of the 30-Day Blog challenge and it is about my hopes, dreams and hopes for the next 365 days. It will be a very long list, ha ha! So here goes:
1. Travel as a family to either Hong Kong or Boracay (again).
2. Have that stamp on my passport, even just for a short Hong Kong visit.
3. Pay off my loans and start a debt free year.
4. Enroll the kids and myself to a swimming class this summer, and learn how to swim!
5. Lose that extra 14 lbs of fat, ha ha.
6. Buy a DLSR camera from my blogging income (I wish!)
7. Learn how to drive our van. I already know how to drive our motorcycle but with my husband running after me, he he.
8. Go to Baguio or Pagudpod.
9. Climb Mt Pinatubo and visit Anawangin.
10. Save money.

I think most those on my plans involve spending money so I think I can just forget the last item on my list, haha!

December 8, 2011

Day 8: What's in your Bag?

This is my entry to Day 8 of the 30-Day Blog Challenge on What's In your Bag. And I took a photo of my bag just now.
Here are the things that are in my bag right now:
1. My Kate Spade wallet which was a gift from my boss last year, and some bills.
2. Techie pouch which has usb, earphones, Go Gear Aria player, and usb cord.
3. Make up pouch, comb and perfume
4. Camera
5. Cellphone
6. Small red notebook and ball pen
7. Petroleum jelly
8. handkerchief
9. my shades

If you ask me which of these items I cant live without on a daily basis, it would be my wallet, petroleum jelly and cellphone. The rest I can leave at home :-p

December 7, 2011

Day 7: My Worst Habit

My entry to Day 7 of the 30-Day Blog Challenge regarding my worst habit is reading. While reading itself is not a crime, according to my husband, it is my worst habit!
There are moments when I am reading and I love the book so much that I can tune out from what is happening around me, even when the kids are fighting or my husband is calling me. And I think that what he means hey reading is such a bad habit for me. 'Pag nagbabasa ka, parang wala ka dito.' And that is true, ha ha. But I can say the same about him whenever Ginebra is playing basketball on TV!

December 6, 2011

Day 6: A Song That Makes You Cry

For Day 6 of the 30-Day Blog Challenge, my entry on the song that makes you cry is Butterfly Kisses. I have this saved on my phone and aside from I Love You Too by Rey Valera, I play this song for my kids before they go to sleep. I sometimes cry, not for my kids, but for myself whenever I miss my dad who passed away when I was in high school. I didn't live with him when he was alive so I miss him sometimes. My kids are lucky that they father is here with them and they have wonderful memories and experiences together.
The photo is of my husband and youngest daughter, taken in Boracay.

Day 5: Your dream house

Day 6 of the 30-day blog challenge is about your dream house and I have one right here: our dream house in Montalban. Our journey to building this dream house is being chronicled in my other blog, Building My Dream House. This is how it looks right now:

You wouldn't think that it would look like that after Ondoy in September 2009. But we were able to get some insurance money, and then some loans here and there and were able to do some major changes.
We were supposed to transfer this year but then Typhoon Pedring and Typhoon Falcon scared us into moving and so we are still renting in Manila. But the dream to make this dream home project still lives!
So far, only Typhoon Ondoy has caused flooding inside the house and the last two typhoons only made our neighbors evacuate. And maybe once we have enough money to build the second floor of this home just to be safe during flooding, then we will finally be able to move in.

Day 4: Something You Are OCD about

This is Day 4 of the 30-Day Blog challenge and the entry which I was supposed to post yesterday is about something that you are OCD about and I think it would be about my kid's teeth. Here is Ishi after she lost her front tooth early this year. Before I got to sleep, I would ask them each and every time, 'Did you brush your teeth na?' and sometimes, they would tell me, "yes, nagtoothbrush na po, good night, love you!' And so I know that I have become so obsessed about it but for good reasons. I know that their teeth must be properly protected and cared for at this time because I see so many kids whose permanent teeth are already damaged. I hope that my kids would understand and appreciate my obsession when they grow older, ha ha.

Day 3: A Photo of You Taken More thnan 10 years ago

This is Day 3 of the 30-day blog challenge and for today, the entry is a picture of me, taken more than ten years ago: my college graduation picture taken in April 30, 1997. I graduated from The Polytechnic University of the Philippines with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration Major in Management.
I can still remember my graduation day because I was late. We live in Pasig and we cant find a taxi to take us to the CCP complex. We took a jeepney to Edsa Crossing and begged a taxi driver to take me, my sister and my husband, then my boyfriend. I was almost on tears and so he relented. I was the last one to arrive and they already have those ribbons for the photographer to take their pictures and I had none! My bestrfiends Ehms and Rona saw a ribbon on the floor and pin it on me and I had this photo! They also claimed it for me in school and I know I didn't pay for it! To this day, we still talk about how I almost didn't make it to my own graduation, and how we didn't pay for this picture, haha.

Koi Pond at Pedal & Paddle

I love Koi ponds. There is something about them that makes me feel calm and happy. Just looking at the koi soothes me. And I was so happy to find a Koi pond inside the Pedal and Paddle at the QC Memorial Circle!
I can stay here for a long time just staring at them. I wish I have a better camera to take better pictures!

Cuteness is his Name

Camera Critters

This is Cuteness, a pup we met in Batangas when we went home for All Souls Day. My kids were begging me to bring him home with us to Manila. But unfortunately, dogs are not allowed inside our compound so we really cant keep him. So we just had him for a photo shoot. He is a little shy though.

I Want to Go Back to Boracay!

This was taken in Boracay last August when we went there for sidetrip before attending a wedding in Aklan. I have been to Boracay for four times already, but I cant seem to get enough of it. There are lots of things to do and food to eat and just to relax and get away from it all.
I was supposed to come back to Boracay next week with my husband using free tickets I won during an event, but unfortunately, things have not gone according to plan. Anyway, I will see you again, Boracay!

New Year's Resolution #1

My first resolution for 2012 is to put my finances in order, especially my cash flow. More inflows and less outflows, ha ha. Wish me luck!

Its Almost Christmas!

The shopping malls have been very busy making their stores ready for the Christmas season. Once such mall is SM and with this decor of the Little Drummer Boy and the lighted giant red and silver balls, I couldn't resist being a child and having my photo taken!
It really makes you feel that Christmas is just around the corner especially when you hear carols all over the mall!

Little Piggy

This yellow piggy was our coin bank for more than a year now and we decided to open her up yesterday. We first said that this will be our car money and then our Cebu money. But since we already have a car and we have already gone to Cebu, we cant decide yesterday what we were saving for so we said might as well open her up. And look how many coins she had for us!
It was more than P1,200 and my mom went to the market with her wallet full of coins! It was worth a week of food or so.
And then we sealed the piggy again and will hope to open her up again in a year or two and maybe, she will be a lot fatter then! But we have yet to decide what we are saving for because we have this superstition that if you are saving up for nothing specific, then somebody will get sick and that money will just be used for that. I think we will call it our travel fund for Hong Kong, so we will save for some 3 years or more, ha ha.

Skywatch Friday: On the Way Home

This was the view on the highway from Batangas, going home to Manila. It was a sleepy afternoon and I had nothing to do but try to get good pictures, using my trusty point and shoot. And I think this shot was fine! Love how it captured the sleepy yet alive afternoon!
And the Eeyore and flower just made the scene perfect!

May the Saints Pray for Us

This is one of the "apartment-style- crypt at the local cemetery in our province, aptly named after a Saint. And I wish that the saints pray for the souls of our dearly departed.
An entry for signs this All Souls Day and All Saints Day in the Philippines.
